A Week About Packing and Pronouncing “Ach Tung”
Packing sux… and it begins that way, stays that way and ends that way. Especially when you need to pack for a place then is half-way across the globe from home. Weather considerations, Temperature considerations, and worse, Currency considerations.
And when the people dun speak the language you do, then you have to adapt to theirs. For example, Ach is pronounced wif the ch sounding like there’s some spit in your throat or something. That just plain sux, I can’t have spit in my throat half the time when I talk, heck, I dun even know if I have enuff spit to last me a week.
Some people say, ignore the spit and make a guttural sound. Like a toad? Not pretty… But hey, things aren’t all bad as it seems, in the worst case, we can simply use English, with a slight guttural accent at that… I’ll bet that their English is better than my German, but yeah… As long as they don’t point me elsewhere when I ask for the loo, we have reached mutual understanding
